What stuff do I need to buy for training?
01/08/2006
Initially if you wish to come along and train all you need to bring along is yourself and a water bottle. Wear loose fitting clothes without sharp edges on e.g. zips and without anything hanging off or loose open pockets as a fashion accessory.
Tracksuit bottoms and T-shirt are ideal.
I would also recommend a towel, shower gel and a spare pair of underwear to change into afterwards as you will sweat during your training!
After that you will need to purchase a white Judo style Gi from any sport store (approx £20). If there are any badges such as the makers logo on it you will have to remove them. You will then be required to buy a TJF badge for approx. £4.
That will be all you need up to and beyond your first grading.
For the grades I suggest certainly buying a gum-shield (they start at £2 and prices go up from there depending on how good you want it to be) along with any other protective wear you feel is appropriate e.g. box.
Putting together a personal first aid kit is a really good idea, it should contain anything you personally are likely to need. The club has an extensive first aid kit, however if you use the club kit for any pre-existing injury or condition you will be charged!
Lastly if there is any medication you require or are even likely to require during exercise e.g. an inhaler, you will not be allowed on the mat without one!
If you have a spare inhaler you want to leave in the club first aid kit in case you forget yours you can do that as long as you label it with your name so they dont get mixed up.

This terms regional will be here in Huddersfield.
It will be on Saturday the 11th of February. Since we are hosting it we really should be giving an excellent turnout so please come along.
As always a top instructor will be taking the mat and you will get to learn new stuff and train with loads of people from round the region. Which as always will be fun!

Jitsu Atemi Nationals

We need names of people going, ideally by this saturday to be able to book the discounted rate accomodations through the Foundation.
If you are definately coming post in the forum, you can share rooms with another i.e. double room if you want to lower the cost slightly.

Jitsu 2005 Fresher's Jitsu Party!!!
28/09/2005
On Saturday 29th October 2005 we will be having our first official 'Jitsu club night out'. All are welcome (yes you can bring friends as well), looking forward to a good night out!

The start of a new year!
27/09/2005
Welcome to all who have recently joined or are returning. New developments this year is that our 2 yearly competitions are now recognised by BUSA (British Universities Sports Association).
Our first grading (yellow belt) will be taking place towards the end of this calendar year before you break up. This is conducted regionally so you will grade alongside all the people from the north east (now yorkshire) region. Its a great chance to meet others.
And the financial bit:
Joining fees:
£20 - Yearly insurance and registration to the Jitsu Foundation and BJJAGB.
£20 - Mat fees paid termly i.e. 3 terms in a year.
£3 - Fee which goes to the students union to affiliate.
So to join fully costs £43
In addition you will need a gi (white suit), you can order these on-line or get one locally from http://tinyurl.com/pe47f Huddersfield They will start from just under £20, this is a one off investment as a good gi (look around first to compare quality) will last for years - mine certainly do.
The most important things to sort out are the insurance fees (£20-without which you legally cant train more than 2 sessions) and student union affiliation (£3).
See you all on the mat and we are looking forward to a great year :o)
